Widening opportunity for dyslexic learners - is learning style theory the answer?

Note:

This article is set within the field of dyslexia and the theoretical perspective of cognitive or learning style. It is an original contribution in that it provides a critique of the suggestion that dyslexic learners may possess a particular style profile, whilst offering advice to educationalists on the use of learning style theory in work with vulnerable learners such as students with dyslexia. It is significant in that I was subsequently asked to provide further articles for a South African SEN journal and invited to lead a range of workshops in sub-Saharan Africa. All findings are rigorously supported by evidence from the most recent critique of the field and the author's own PHD research. The paper was submitted by invitation from the editor of this peer reviewed journal.
