Drawing sound: sonifying the page

Makiola, I and Scott, L (2010) Drawing sound: sonifying the page. In: JISC Dev8D Developer Day, 24-27 February 2010, University of London Union.

Abstract

This workshop item invited discussion around a juxtaposition of two technologies: a digital pen (for drawing into image manipulation software) and a bespoke 'laser harp' midi-input device. The harp provided control signals to Abelton Live to enable gesture-based music creation. Makiola and Scott combined the two technologies to create bi-media artefacts that expressed drawing both visually and sonically.
