Note:

This chapter is set within the field of enquiry of economics and education. It develops considerable earlier work on this theme. Drawing on the globalization literature, it sets out the ways in which technology is transforming schools and universities in many different states. It sets out the emerging skills in the knowledge economy and enquire into the extent to which schools and universities are meeting these. It is part of a corpus of work on the knowledge economy which is highly innovative since it treats this (easily politicized) concept with economic and educational seriousness in an international context.
