Abstract: The film 'Releasing Her Archive' returns to the past to revitalize the practices of choreographer Gertrud Bodenwieser (b.1890 Vienna, d.1959 Sydney). 'Releasing Her Archive' is a short film arising from research into the embodied archives of Gertrud Bodenwieser. Drawing on extensive archival research undertaken by Carol Brown and Thomas Kampe into the artistic legacies of Bodenwieser and her dancers between 2014 and 2017, the film was premiered in Melbourne at the National Gallery Victoria as part of the Dancing Sculpture event in 2017. Directed by Carol Brown and designed and edited by Owa Barua, the work was filmed by Meek Zuiderwyk in collaboration with Thomas Kampe, the New Zealand Dance Company and Maryam Bagheri Nesami at the Wellesley Studios, Auckland, New Zealand, September 2016.
