Abstract
The research evaluated models of conflict from the Cold War against subsequent reality and found the models had significant errors in them. Therefore it was not surprising that the models used by professionals prior to the crisis in the Ukraine had similar issues. However, there is sound academic evidence for the value of such models, despite their limitations, in education, training and analysis.
