Abstract
This entry gives a short survey of some of the major changes in thinking about heritage interpretation over the past twenty years. Its focus is primarily on the United Kingdom, and it explores the relationship between public policy and interpretive practice. It considers heritage interpretation in its widest sense, in the context of heritage sites, but also in the context of museums and, more informally, of community‐based projects.
