Abstract
Aimed at those wishing to get their first job in the industry, a panel of seasoned experts provided practical advice for new authors on breaking through the barriers and finding the right career path. The panellists demystified recruitment processes as well as gave an insight into what employers are looking for in entry-level candidates. They looked at “common routes” into the industry, such as university degrees, internships, work experience, paid and voluntary work and offered advice on starting roles and what kind of publishing career these can lead to.
