Abstract: | The Record Player Orchestra is an interactive and performative installation exploring the possibilities of collaborative and symbiotic manipulation of sound through physical engagement with a record player, turntable and a bespoke vinyl record. This Collection comprises a multi-component output with contextualising information, evidencing the project genesis and development, and the following installations: Record Player Orchestra & Sellotape Cinema, A3 Project Space & Vivid Projects, Birmingham, 26th April, 28th June & 4th July 2014; Record Player Orchestra: London Analogue Festival, Oxo Tower Wharf, London, 12th - 14th September 2014; and Record Player Orchestra:Instituto Departamental de Bellas Artes, Cali, Colombia, 3rd March 2016. Also documented is The Newton Park Sessions, Newton Park Studio, Michael Tippett Centre, Bath Spa University, 3rd July - 6th July 2017, the recording of a digital album and the recorded tracks. Contextualising information includes a 300 word statement, research timeline, and research questions. |
