Abstract: | In August 2015 the C&C Gallery hosted an innovative residency program, which transformed the public gallery into a dynamic studio environment to facilitate the production of artworks in response to ideas surrounding the condition of blindness and alternative ways of seeing. The 6-week programme brought together a contrary group of artists, archaeologists, technical experts and theorists. Scheduled events for artists and the public operated as an exchange for speculative processes and performances, making for an unprecedented opportunity for collisions and collusions. Dunseath’s role as artist collaborator specifically sought to ask questions of mediation, remediation, authorship and originality. She did this through co-production of floor to ceiling columns and laser scanning images. The work, like the experience of being led by an elbow, had to be negotiated and choreographed by senses other than sight to produce a new way of working. The project involved a live 6-week residency, exhibition, workshops, talks & events, a residency blog and website. |
