Abstract: | Mount Athos is a collection of drawings, paintings, and animations documenting Orthodox monastic life on this remote peninsula of North Eastern Greece. Tim Vyner uses reportage illustration methods to explore the potential of drawing as a means of engagement, producing these illustrations during his 2013 - 2015 Mount Athos residency, as part of the inaugural Doug Patterson RCA Bursary, culminating in two exhibitions in 2014/2015 and 2018. This Collection comprises a multi-component output with contextualising information, providing evidence of selected illustration works, two exhibitions, and context in the form of a 300 word statement, research timeline, research questions, and documentation of the methods and processes involved the creation of the works. |
