Abstract: | Breathe is a ghost story for the smartphone that uses data pulled from the reader’s phone to personalise the story to every reader. It was commissioned as part of the AHRC-funded project, Ambient Literature, which focused on the study of emergent forms of literature that make use of novel technologies and social practices in order to create evocative experiences for readers. This Collection documents a single-component creative practice research output with contextualising information. This includes a complete read-through of the Breathe work itself (the output), as well as a 300 word statement, research timeline, a short film documenting the research for the project, and two excerpted chapters, the introductory chapter and an interview with Kate Pullinger (chapter 12), from Ambient literature: towards a new poetics of situated writing and reading practices, an edited book published by Palgrave Macmillan, of which the researcher is a co-editor. |
