Abstract: Polymorphism in audio-visual composition is a multi-component output that includes two compositions, Continuum (2016) and silently out of the night (2020). Continuum explores a method of audio-visual composition that aims to simulate a complex physical system. The central concept of the piece was to place the listener in an encounter with an intense energetic phenomenon such as the plasma of nuclear fusion. In order to produce the desired results in the audio element of the composition I developed a methodology that uses phase vocoder cross- synthesis and specific sonic materials. The album was released on Subtext Recordings in February 2016, and Jebanasam toured the AV performance internationally from 2016 to 2018. 'silently out of the night' examines the use of computer simulations and temporal manipulation techniques in the creation of an audio-visual artwork. The artistic aim of the piece was to present a sequence of cinematic shots that depict the movement clouds, water and fire as one imaginary material using shadow, light and sound. 'silently out of the night' was screened at Seeing Sound 2020, an online practice-led symposium exploring multimedia work which foregrounds the relationship between sound and image. This Collection comprises a multi-component output with contextualising information, providing evidence of the outputs and their dissemination, and as contextualising information, a 300-word statement, research timeline, and research questions.
