Abstract: | The Criminal Research: Communities of Practice research project involved the creation of learning spaces that were both creatively stimulating and methodologically replicable in international prison environments with inmate practitioners. These programmes, one based on the workshop method, and the other based on the atelier method providing prisoners with a series of ‘Masterclasses’, culminated in three separate anthologies of prisoner work, encouraging prisoner participation in an ongoing community of literary practice. This Collection documents a multi-component output with contextualising information, in the form of three edited anthologies of creative writing written by inmates at various correctional facilities in the United States and the United Kingdom (the outputs), and the contextualising documents (Research Timeline, Research Questions, and 300 word statement). Also contained in this collection are example 'Master Class' videos produced for the research project, in which Bath Spa University Creative Writing lecturers delivered craft talks for the inmates involved, and a document describing methods and processes along with supporting examples. |
