Abstract

The National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance (NCJAA) supports arts organisations working in the criminal justice system. The NCJAA Professional Mentoring Scheme is an annual programme that has operated since 2013-14, offering mentees six months of mentoring support with an experienced member of the network. In 2021 the NCJAA commissioned Ella Simpson, a researcher based at Bath Spa University, to conduct a summary evaluation of the 2020/21 iteration of the scheme. The evaluation used qualitative interview, focus group and textual data to evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme and make recommendations for practical improvements.
