| Abstract: | One of a series of works made in a collaborative strand of practice by Alice Walton and Anna Lucas since 2016 exploring the notion of ‘alongside looking’, a looking with and in conversation. The work enacts the simple gesture of turning pages of appropriated images. Hands are seen turning, folding, pressing images of sculpture, nature, staged dance performances and blank end pages to create a memorising choreography of quiet attention. As the pages slide, touch and turn they create their own sound track, occasionally extended by the ambient sound of footsteps across the floor or a door opening; suggesting the physical space around this obsessive action. |
