Abstract: | Over the centuries, trees and forests have been revered and feared, protected and hated, seen as a resource that can be depleted and more recently as a complex ecosystem, like that of the entire planet. The forest has inhabited our imagination since time immemorial. Among the women and men, the artists have taken a singular look at the tree and the forest, sensing their importance in the balance of the living world. How did the artists represent the forest? What virtues, what powers, what attention did they pay to it? Based on a narrow set of works (paintings, installations, film excerpts), this is the purpose of this exhibition, which offers a strong experience and an immersion in the heart of the imagination of forests. |
