Note: | Opening Date: 2002-Apr-25 'Forget-me-not' is a collection of 35 outfits or looks based on narratives of love and loss. The project draws inspiration from a Victorian love story in which a young man, attempting to pick flowers for his love, crosses a stream, is swept away and drowns. From this melodramatic position, 'Forget-me-not' embraces the meanings of love, loss and remembrance, translating the story into wearable and innovative textiles and designs, i.e. the handmade knitwear is constructed in pastel blues and lilac to evocate the rushing river over cobbles. The collection includes innovatory scented wool fabrics, encapsulating the fragrances and flavours of love, i.e. strawberry and chocolate, which offer the wearer a sensory experience of love through memory and recollection; the wearer is literally wrapped in the experience of remembered romantic love. The scent induces a headiness in the wearer, seductive and nostalgic. Double O aim to negotiate, question and confront the presentation, display, responses to and experience of fashion in contemporary society. This collection exemplifies the transformation of concept to unique fashion experience. 150+ |
