Note: | My own co-curatorial project titled “Hallogallo” that was summed up in a group exhibition at the CASS Gallery, London in February 2012. The exhibition is a critical overview of the contemporary painterly practices that utilise gesture as both organic and mediated resource of painterly activities, realised through 6 artists works and practices. The next step is a project titled “Losing Your Head to the State” I hope to develop in full over the next 10 months. The project looks at the concept of body within wider historical, political and social systems of discipline and punishment and considers much broader artistic activities in its curation. This project is seen as a further elaboration on the “Hallogallo” exhibition and is more specific to the issues of body representation across contemporary art practices, including painting, sculpture, photography and video. I aim to create a publication at the end of the project, premised on a dialogue between the artists involved and to organize a symposium in relation to the issues raised in the exhibition. |
