Abstract: | location composites is a series of compositions by James Saunders which engage with specific places. Through a range of processes, locations are sampled and presented as scores for realisation in sound. The means by which this is accomplished differs in each piece, but includes verbal description, recording, measuring, commentary and observation. Such interventions are made with a distributed network of collaborators, some of whom remain unknown. Contact is made through geocaches, distributed notebooks, circumstance, and invitation. |
