Abstract

Dr Andy Skellern and Dr Richard Johnson, in conjunction with representatives of the Somerset Coal Canal Society, hosted a field demonstration and discussion of CLRG’s Leica C10 ScanStation TLS at Combe Hay, south of Bath. This highlighted the technical capabilities of this high definition survey technology, and allowed the audience to start to appreciate the application of this tool to both recording the current status of the canal’s industrial archaeology alongside its landscape context, but equally the vast potential this tool has for the effective, efficient and detailed restoration of disused canal basins and other landscape archaeology.
