Abstract: | An installation exploring the contents of Swiss artist Roman Signer's library, developed in discussion with the artist. Eeaturing over a hundred digitally restored and enhanced prints of out-of-copyright pictures taken from books and printed matter on Signer's shelves, the installation sheds unexpected new lights on the diverse enthusiasms and fascinations that counterpoint his internationally acclaimed sculptural practice. Showing from March 4-May 31 2015 in the Rose Lipman Building, a community centre and former public library in Hackney, London, the installation runs concurrently with Signer’s Slow Movement exhibition in The Barbican’s Curve Space and the Barbican art Gallery’s exhibition Magnificent Obsessions: the Artist as Collector (February 12 – May 25 2015). |
