Abstract

Spoken word is tough for girls. As in many art forms the perceived ‘stars’ are often men. Their work is promoted, anthologised, filmed. Benjamin Zephaniah, Lemn Sissay, Matt Harvey and Luke Wright appear at many literary events.In this article Lucy English investigates what is available for female spoken word artists.
