Abstract
A new form of opera is emerging from digital culture. This talk outlines some flavours of this new form and presents a vision of opera as a comprehensively digital artefact. Specifically, the web and mobile devices are considered as sites for operatic performance. These performances consider 'liveness' and 'sense of scale' as dominant qualities of staged opera, and suggests that digital remediations of the art form reconfigure such qualities as 'steerable opera' and personal resonance.
