Note: | A novel for adults. Its originality consists in the way it fuses girl-about-town chick lit elements with a thoughtful consideration of the known facts behind the crucifixion and the resurrection. It is significant because it contains elements of modern religious debate and transcendent spiritual experience in an accessible style. The writer's objectives were to introduce both Jesus and Christ to a largely secular readership through the character of Simon Peter. Rigorous research in the British Library on the historicity of Jesus and on-location research of fishing methods, Galilean and Jerusalem settings and Essene settlements gave historical credibility to Peter's speeches. Reprinted second week. Waterstone's Selection, Border's Selection. Reviewed favourably in The Bookseller September 2002., |
