Abstract:	The Soundhouse is a steampunk-inspired sound-spewing music-remixing machine inspired by Francis Bacon's, New Atlantis. It is made to allow young people to explore features of orchestral and vocal music in a wacky way. Metadata is applied to a repository of contemporary and historical opera / classical music, allowing content to be selected by mood and instrument set. Once the machine springs into life, the operator can manipulate the speed and direction of two extracts and combine them to (often) surprising effect. Outputs are humorous, ugly, strangely coherent and sometimes just plain weird.
