Abstract
2015 marked the 20th anniversary of Patricia Highsmith's death, on Feb 4, 1995, in Locarno, Switzerland. The American author had lived in Europe for many years, and her work was then, and remains today, more widely read and critically acclaimed here than in the USA. This is slowly changing: Fiona Peter's guest-edited volume of the American journal 'Clues: A Journal of Detection' was published in 2015, to coincide with the anniversary, and the film adaption of Carol (titled The Price of Salt in the USA) has been released to critical acclaim.
