Screened page / screened window

Luzar, R (2016) Screened page / screened window. In: Drawing Upon Experience, Basement Gallery, Bath Spa University, Corsham, UK, 16 May - 23 July 2016.

Item Type: Exhibition
Creators: Luzar, R
Abstract: Why is it that a supposedly blank page is said to be empty, or ‘open’? Is this really a space opening possibilities, new ideas, entries, notes, or sketched plans? These are questions that drove me to make this work. The work is made by pointing my index finger with a tippex pen in hand, both directed over tracing paper… dotting [ • ] row-after-row [. . . ]. The tippex carries associations of correction, or rudimentary erasure. My decision though to do such a recursive action was this: to keep going foremost; and to make appear – rather than disappear – a page, or even window, that seems real yet impossible.
