Abstract: | On display at the American Museum in Bath is an art installation by Andrew Southall. Inspired by a 1980's diagram of a Shaker spindle-back settee, Andrew set about using these plans to make his own bench. The bench is displayed in the first-floor gallery and is accompanied by a series of monochrome photographs that document the process of making it. The American Museum is home to some of the finest examples of Shaker furniture. It is fitting, therefore, that this exploration and celebration of Shaker design should be shown here. |
