Abstract

A presentation by Dr Helena Enright on her Theatre of Testimony work followed by a Q&A. Delving into such are as as domestic violence, cancer and road fatalities, Enright has created a number of award winning and critically acclaimed documentary plays inspired by the Theatre of Testimony. As she discusses her understanding of the term Theatre of Testimony, Enright shares how she deals with some of the creative and ethical challenges working with this type of material presents. Following the presentation, she will be joined by a panel which will include Dr Jessica Beck, who directed Enright in a production of her play Less Than A Year and collaborated with her on The Exeter Blitz Project, as well as some of the people whose stories she has told and also some actors who have performed in her plays.
