Abstract

This chapter outlines the key contributions to knowledge this handbook has provided and articulates how it continues to develop and extend the concept. The handbook, through a journey of six interrelated parts, unpacks, grapples and engages in critical dialogue around the why, what, where, when and how of physical literacy (PL). This penultimate chapter concludes with a call to action to uncover new horizons in PL, recognising its under-utilisation despite growing recognition. It outlines themes that could provide fertile ground for continued growth of the concept, advocating for PL as essential to human experience, nurturing purposeful, joyful, and connected movement throughout life.
