Abstract
Written by Gavin James Bower, 'Fail to Meet, Fall Apart Again' is a story from a novel-in-progress inspired by André Breton’s 'Nadja' – a seminal surrealist text first published in 1928. Gavin's story is the result of research on surrealism during the movement’s 2024 centenary year and more recent trips to London, St Ives and Paris to view exhibitions featuring the works of Ithell Colquhoun and Lee Miller. His book about the surrealist artist Claude Cahun, The Soldier with No Name, was published in 2013. This new work is part of a longer project and explores the uncanny, objective chance and petrifying coincidence.
