Cobby, H (2026) From club collection to civic resource: developing a university–sporting heritage partnership in Bath. In: Sporting Heritage Conference, 19 November 2026, online. (Forthcoming)
Abstract
Drawing on an emerging partnership between Bath Spa University and Bath Rugby, this practice-led case study explores how university curatorial expertise, research and student participation can help a professional sports club develop its historic collection as a sustainable and accessible civic resource. Moving from the foundations of collections care, documentation and governance towards wider access and interpretation, Helen will reflect on the opportunities and challenges of connecting club heritage with the histories, communities and changing identity of the city it represents.
