The work is a selection of five poems addressing socio-political issues. Its originality consists in its exploring a situation extrapolated from a particular world crisis by its consideration in an indefinite environment. That is, each poem de-particularises its inspiring situation in order to look at its broader connections and consequences. For example, "The Daughters of Prospero" considers the supposed relationship between femininity, youth, and innocence in the wake of a Palestinian girl's suicide bombing, without the latter's particular context made explicit. It is significant because it offers a uncommon and distinctive artistic way to apprehend contemporary political issues. The writer's objectives were to discover and develop new ways to compose non-didactic, provocative poetry addressing socio-political matters.
