Abstract

A story inspired by the real-life strike by the women who cleaned offices at night in the 1970s, commissioned for an anthology about protest. May Hobbs was a working class woman from Hoxton who managed to unionise the cleaners, started the Cleaners' Action Group, and organised a successful strike against the civil service.
