Abstract: Soundscape is a journey of sound following the migration of a single swallow from her winter quarters in South Africa, to her breeding ground in a small Scottish farmyard This series is a unique collaboration between ornithologist and writer Stephen Moss, wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson and the BBC Natural History Unit's radio department. Narrated by Bill Patterson, each programme follows a different leg of the swallow's migration, combining a rich variety of sounds with powerful narration to produce an evocative, imaginative series. Along the way, the swallow encounters the chilling squeals of zebras as they succumb to a lion attack on the plains, the high-pitched cries of fish eagles, and deep laughing bellows of hippos wallowing in the Limpopo River. Together, the moving soundtrack and dramatic narration make for a very exciting and unique audio journey
